Giezelbaargbloazers Veele
Midwinterhoorn guild based in Veele (Westerwolde, southeast Groningen), practicing the anbloazen-to-afbloazen ritual from the first Sunday of Advent to Epiphany at dusk. The midwinterhoorn maps a Germanic winter solstice observance onto the Christian Advent-Epiphany calendar. Whether representing unbroken continuity or a 20th-century revival inspired by D.J. van der Ven (1919), it is now a living practice listed on the national intangible heritage inventory since 2013. The guild website publishes the annual blowing schedule.
