Key moments

Day 1 · Jan 1

Morning Gift Collection (Pedir el Donativo)

Visitors can walk or stand by the roads as the masked Zangarrón passes by each door, accompanied by friends. The Zangarrón remains silent, pounding his trident and ringing bells to entertain. It’s a chance to see the full costume up close and shout holiday greetings to him.

~9:00

Epiphany Mass and Blessing

Observers can attend the Mass to see the tradition. At the climax, when the Zangarrón lifts the loaves, parishioners celebrate with him. This moment blends religiosity (communion bread) with folklore (the sacramental offering is eaten outside).

~11:30

Post-Mass Chase

Attendees can follow the group as they circulate in the main plaza (Plaza del Sol). The crowd laughs as the Zangarrón tries to start playful footraces with the young men, lightly tapping them with his trident when caught. It is an open, boisterous celebration; visiting families often stand by the sidewalks to watch.
