Dec 26, 2026ConfirmedSource
Lá an Dreoilín / Wren's Day is a St. Stephen's Day tradition held every year on 26 December in Dingle, County Kerry. Local Wren groups — including the Green and Gold, Sráid Eoin (John Street), the Quay, and Goat Street — parade through the town from midday, each led by a hobby horse and accompanied by musicians wearing straw rigs and colour-coded costumes (green & gold, blue & white, green & white, red & white). Groups visit pubs and the local community hospital along their route, play music into the evening, and collect for local charities. The tradition is one of the strongest surviving Wren Day celebrations in Ireland, described as 'thriving' by Dingle Peninsula Tourism and confirmed active through 2023 and 2025 occurrences.

Attendance can be appropriate while active documentation is not. Let local boundaries define your role.
Avoid filming or photographing moments that feel private, sacred, or restricted.
Some celebrations are best approached quietly: arrive prepared, follow posted rules, and leave without turning the moment into content.
