Each third Thursday of May, the city of Kharkiv fills with embroidered shirts for World Vyshyvanka Day. Students, office workers, and public servants alike wear the vyshyvanka and join organized events, in a celebration of a movement, born in 2006, to keep Ukraine's folk dress alive.
