St David’s Day Parade
Windsor, United Kingdom
Each March 1, the Welsh Guards mark St David's Day with a ceremonial parade at Combermere Barracks in Windsor. The battalion, with veterans and families, assembles for a formal parade on the patron saint's day, in a celebration kept since the regiment's founding in 1915.
Celebrated since the formation of the Welsh Guards in 1915, the parade honors Wales’ patron saint and the regiment’s Welsh identity. It reinforces the unique position of the Welsh Guards as the only Welsh Foot Guards unit, complete with traditional Welsh symbols (leeks) and songs. The ceremony exemplifies British military pageantry mixed with Welsh cultural pride.
