This festival is Aragonese in spirit: it celebrates a legendary local love story that dates back to 1217, an event woven into Teruel’s identity. The public symbolism (e.g. the bull and the Reina Isabel) reflects medieval values of honor, sacrifice and communal feasting that define local folklore. Although tourist awareness has grown, it remains deeply rooted in local passion for preserving their history.
