Waldkircher Fasnet is a local Swabian-Alemannic Fastnacht celebration in Waldkirch, a Black Forest town at the foot of the Kandel mountain. The Hexensabbat der Kandelhexen is its signature event, held on Fastnachtssamstag evening at 19:00 on the Marktplatz. The Devil calls the Kandelhexen together with the chant 'Hexe, Hexe, stelze rab vum Kandelfelse!', initiating new members amid torchlight and fire. The Kandelhexe (Kandel witch) is a recognized mask figure of Narrenzunft Krakeelia Waldkirch, founded 1865; the witch group itself was established in 1974. The broader Schwäbisch-Alemannische Fastnacht tradition is listed in Germany's national inventory of intangible cultural heritage (2014).
