Wacken Open Air (W:O:A) is the world's largest and most renowned heavy metal festival, held annually since 1990 in the village of Wacken, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. The festival spans over 360 hectares across areas including the Infield (Holy Land) with its main Faster & Harder double stage, the Wacken Center with the Louder Stage, the medieval-themed Wackinger Village, Bullhead City, the Camping Plaza, and the Metal Church in the village center. It draws approximately 85,000 metal fans from over 80 countries and features more than 100 bands across 11 stages, along with camping culture, themed nights (Night to Remember, Night to Dismember, Wasted Wednesday), and the W:O:A Metal Battle competition. The 2026 edition marks the 35th anniversary of the festival.
