Kaziuko mugė is deeply rooted in the celebration of Saint Casimir, Lithuania’s patron saint. The fair originated in the early 1600s around the feast of St. Casimir (March 4), and by the 17th century had become a major trade and folk festival in Vilnius. It traditionally marked spring guild traditions and has remained a continuity of Lithuanian heritage.
Respect local customs and traditions; ask before touching crafts, be courteous to artisans.
