Each pre-Lenten season, the city of Venlo bursts into Vastelaovend, the carnival of 't Jocus Riék, the city of fun. Brass bands, dialect songs, and elaborate handmade costumes fill the streets, in a celebration rooted in the deep carnival tradition of Dutch Limburg.
