Every other July, the town of Bad Urach honors its shepherds with the Schäferlauf. Shepherds and shepherdesses race barefoot across the fields and perform the traditional Schäfertanz, in a celebration rooted in a 1723 ducal decree that honors the herding life of the Swabian Alb.
