The festival was established in the early 2000s (24th edition in 2025) to promote Slovak folklore and local traditions. Its name means "Trnava Gate," reflecting the opening of the city to folk culture. Supported by the city and cultural organizations, it has become one of the major folklore events in western Slovakia.
