Kurzeme’s coast is home to two distinct traditions: the Livonian (Līvian) and Catholic Suiti communities. Both share kokle playing. This event bridged the two cultures by focusing on their common instrument. It aimed to revitalize regional folk music and strengthen cultural identity in an area where these traditions have survived for centuries.
This event is braided with sacred pagan-era rites (fire rituals); participants should be reverent and follow ceremony protocols
Attendance can be appropriate while active documentation is not. Let local boundaries define your role.
