Each late September the village of Tarpa celebrates its famed plums and plum pálinka with folk music, a táncház, a plum-cooking contest, jam competitions, and a parade of illuminated floats. Tarpa claims to be the pálinka capital of Szatmár-Bereg, and the plum is its proud heritage crop.
