The festival commemorates the 1657 siege of Tykocin Castle during the Swedish Deluge. The castle, then held by pro-Swedish forces of Radziwiłł, was recaptured by Lithuanian-Polish hetman Stefan Czarniecki. Participants portray soldiers and townsfolk of the era, reflecting the area's history of shifting borders and military tradition.
