Martinovanje has Celtic origins as an autumn fertility celebration which was later linked to St. Martin of Tours. In Slovenia it symbolizes the transformation of grape must into wine, marked by feasting on roast goose and local specialties. The tradition reflects Slovenia’s deep wine culture.
