Saint Leopold III of the Babenberg dynasty (1073–1136) is the founder of Klosterneuburg Abbey and patron of Lower Austria and Vienna. He was canonized in 1485, and since then his feast day (15 Nov) has been celebrated as a state festival in the region. The contemporary festival reflects this legacy, emphasizing local wine culture and devotion to the patron saint.
