The kilometers-long bloom leads from the church through the village, in a celebration that has made this central Polish village famous for one of the country's most beautiful flower carpets.
Corpus Christi is a major Catholic feast (held 60 days after Easter). In Poland it has been celebrated since the 14th cent. with outdoor processions and field altars. The Spycimierz procession is rooted in local parish life: every family contributes to the floral carpets, an act of local faith and identity. The flowers and ecological materials reflect the agrarian culture. It symbolizes community devotion to the Eucharist.
Attendees should dress modestly (cover shoulders and knees) and behave reverently in church and during the procession. Avoid walking on the flower carpets before the procession.
Attendance can be appropriate while active documentation is not. Let local boundaries define your role.
