The story behind it
Kačarevo is a multiethnic Banat village where bacon making is a centuries-old tradition. Local families preserve Germany/Austrian, Hungarian and Balkan smoking recipes viagenerations. The winter festival grew from a friendly 1988 tavern contest into an international public event that highlights rural Banat customs, community rivalry/solidarity, and traditional smoke-curing methods.
