Each summer, the UNESCO citadel of Sighișoara comes alive with knights, craftsmen, and music for a medieval festival. Three days of reenactment revive Transylvania's Middle Ages within the old Saxon walls, in a celebration set in the citadel that was the birthplace of Vlad Țepeș.
Sighișoara was a significant Saxon settlement and is the birthplace of Vlad Țepeș; its citadel is UNESCO-listed. This festival of medieval heritage celebrates that identity and fosters multicultural traditions in Transylvania. As one of Romania’s most famous city festivals, it brings together local folklore ensembles, reenactment groups, and tourists to connect with Sighișoara’s past.
The festival occurs in a historic citadel; visitors should respect heritage sites, avoid littering or climbing walls, and be mindful of religious believers around church venues.
Attendance can be appropriate while active documentation is not. Let local boundaries define your role.
