Shrovetide Carnival (Plateliai)

Užgavėnės Plateliuose

Plateliai, Lithuania

Feb 14, 2026ExpectedSource

Each Shrovetide, the Samogitian village of Plateliai keeps one of Lithuania's largest and most traditional Užgavėnės. Carved masks and ancient customs fill the day, in a celebration so deeply rooted in the Žemaitija region that it has become a touchstone of the old carnival.

Media proof note

The Shrovetide Carnival (Plateliai) record is date-tracked, but stronger reviewed Field Guide media would make it easier to inspect.
