The fair originated in 1847 as a livestock fair and evolved into a celebration of Andalusian culture. It is emblematic of Seville’s social life, blending equestrian shows with folkloric dance (sevillanas) and cuisine (pescaíto frito, tapas). The ritual of 'pescaíto dinner' on the eve of the fair and the grand fireworks closing underscore the communal and festive nature of the event.
