Šediváčkův Long (Czech Long Trail)

Šediváčkův long

Šediváčkův Long, also known as the Czech Long Trail, is an international multi-stage sled dog race held annually in the last week of January in the Orlické Mountains around Deštndé v Orlických horách, Czech Republic. The race offers 200 km (4-stage) and 300 km (5-stage) courses on mountain ridges with 1–2 mandatory bivouacs on snow and over 7,500 m of cumulative elevation gain. It is regarded as one of the hardest sled dog races in Europe and the longest in the Czech Republic, traditionally welcoming about 700 sled dogs and over 100 mushers from across Central and Western Europe. Founded in 1997 and named after the lead dog Šediváček, it has served as the Czech long-distance championship since its second year.
