Each year, the Hungarian city of Szombathely travels back to its Roman past as Savaria, the town's name in ancient times. A week of legionary parades, gladiator displays, and Roman encampments fills the streets, in a grand historical carnival that brings the spirit of old Pannonia vividly back to life.
