Each July, the city of Pamplona explodes into San Fermín, eight days and nights of red-and-white revelry that begin with a rocket and a roar. At dawn each morning, the famous running of the bulls sends crowds racing ahead of the horns through the old streets, in a festival known around the world.

The cult of Saint Fermin was established in Pamplona during the High Medieval period through the 1186 relic transfer, making the festival's origin inseparable from the dynastic Kingdom of Navarre's religious and civic institutions.

Day 1 · Jul 6

Chupinazo (Opening Rocket)

Witness the crowd countdown and explosion of the rocket; participants shout “¡Viva San Fermín!” while drinking local cider and singing.

Running of the Bulls (Encierro)

Spectators line the fenced route for a few minutes of excitement as bulls and runners pass; can watch from stands or onlookers spots.
