Each year, the town of Kotor honors its patron, Saint Tryphon, who has watched over the city since the 9th century. Solemn services at his cathedral, dances by the Bokeljska Navy, and a procession of his relics fill the day, in a celebration of the saint who guards the town and its seafarers.

Saint Tryphon is venerated as protector of Kotor and its seafarers, dating back to when his relics were brought to the city. The local Bokeljska mornarica (Boka Navy) and community maintain age-old traditions of honoring him with religious ceremonies and dances.
