Saint Mary Magdalene Festival

Madalena Eguna (Bermeo)

Bermeo, Spain

Jul 22, 2025ConfirmedSource

Each July 22, on Mary Magdalene's feast, the fishing town of Bermeo keeps Madalena Eguna by reenacting an old territorial quarrel with Mundaka, casting a clay tile into the sea to claim Izaro Island. The teila ceremony recalls a 19th-century dispute and the town's proud maritime past.

Media proof note

The Saint Mary Magdalene Festival record is date-tracked, but stronger reviewed Field Guide media would make it easier to inspect.
