Saint John's Day (Canigou Flame Bonfire & Batafögu)

Fête de la Saint-Jean

Monaco, Monaco

Jun 23 - 24, 2026Expected

Each June, Monaco welcomes midsummer with the festival of Saint John, when a flame carried from the distant peak of Canigó lights a great bonfire before the Prince's Palace. Folk groups in Monegasque costume dance around the fire, joining old pagan custom with the principality's Catholic traditions.
