Each year, the silver town of Kutná Hora reenacts the arrival of King Wenceslas IV with the Royal Silvering. Parades, jousting, a medieval fair, and music fill the Gothic streets, in a celebration that recalls the days when this was one of the great royal silver-mining towns of Bohemia.

Each year, the silver town of Kutná Hora reenacts the arrival of King Wenceslas IV with the Royal Silvering. Parades, jousting, a medieval fair, and music fill the Gothic streets, in a celebration that recalls the days when this was one of the great royal silver-mining towns of Bohemia.
Kutná Hora was a major royal silver-mining town in medieval Bohemia. The festival recalls the town’s prosperity under King Wenceslas IV (early 1400s) when silver mining and royal patronage flourished, symbolized by the arrival of the king and his court.
Dress in medieval-style costume if possible; avoid loud modern attire. Be especially respectful inside Church of St. Barbara during religious rites.
Attendance can be appropriate while active documentation is not. Let local boundaries define your role.
