Kholodny Yar is a symbolic heart of Ukrainian Cossack resistance. The Pokrova (Feast of the Intercession) has been celebrated there since Soviet times as a patriotic holiday. Historical clubs and the local national park organize commemorations linking the Orthodox feast with the memory of UPA and Cossack fighters.
Dress modestly for church (no shorts, shoulders covered); maintain silence and reverence during prayers and memorial ceremonies.
