Each year, around the feast of Pokrova, the forest of Kholodny Yar fills with pilgrims and Cossack ceremony. Religious observance joins the heritage rites of a place that is a symbolic heart of Ukrainian Cossack resistance, in a celebration where faith and history meet among the old oaks.
