Masopust (Carnival) is a pre-Lenten folk tradition in Bohemia. In Bolevec, it was a historical tradition mentioned in chronicles before WWII that vanished during the 20th century. It was consciously revived in 2024 by local heritage groups and officials. The festival is linked to agricultural and village heritage, showcasing folk costuming and customs unique to Bolevec’s rural community in the city outskirts.
