Each May 1, the Bavarian town of Penzberg raises a new maypole before the Stadthalle. Local clubs work together to set the tall spruce in place as a thousand onlookers gather, in a celebration revived in 2022 that carries the centuries-old Bavarian ritual of the Maibaum.
