Each midwinter, the island town of Pag stages its traditional winter carnival. Masked figures and old folk rituals fill the streets in customs reaching back generations, in a celebration that remains a core part of the island's insular identity.

Marko’s burial and burning

Spectators witness the traditional eulogies (often satirical), the descent of funeral marches, and the burning of the straw figure, capping the festival.

Children’s masked carnival

Children and families in costume participate in music, games, and traditional “Paško kolo” dances in a festive setting.
