Ostašov Carnival

Ostašovský masopust

Liberec, Czech Republic

Dates to be announcedDates pending

Each winter the Ostašov quarter of Liberec keeps its Shrovetide masopust, as locals in folk masks, the Laufer, the bear, the bride and groom, parade house to house through the village. A pre-Lenten custom rooted in medieval Bohemia, it fills the streets with costume and noise before the fast.

Media proof note

The Ostašov Carnival record is date-tracked, but stronger reviewed Field Guide media would make it easier to inspect.
