The story behind it
Started in the past decade, Nos Zjilea (‘Our Neighborhood Gatherings’ in Papiamentu) was created to revive and share Bonairean cultural knowledge. Since 2021 it has run monthly. The events at the island’s anthropological museum (Mangazina di Rei) are family-friendly, with elders teaching about island traditions. News sources refer to it as a monthly cultural event canceled only for weather.
