Nativity of St. John the Forerunner (Dionysiou Monastery, Mount Athos)

Γέννησις Αγίου Ιωάννη του Προδρόμου — Ιερά Μονή Διονυσίου

Each July, the monastery of Dionysiou on Mount Athos celebrates the birth of St. John the Baptist, to whom its church is dedicated and whose relic it keeps. Monks and pilgrims gather for an all-night vigil and candlelit liturgy, in the great yearly feast of one of the Holy Mountain's storied houses.
