Each year between Christmas and New Year, the Bucovina town of Vatra Dornei fills with masked dancers and costumed carolers for its winter customs festival. Bands of revelers in bear and goat costumes parade through the snowy streets, keeping alive the old Romanian New Year rituals of this mountain region.
The National Festival of Winter Traditions “Start the Plow, Fine Fellows!” record is date-tracked, but stronger reviewed Field Guide media would make it easier to inspect.

In Bucovina, winter holidays are marked by age-old folk rituals. The festival brings together the region’s carolers and "urători" (masked revelers) to perform customs such as the plugging of the plow and the purification dances (bear, goat, etc.). These customs symbolize fertility and ward off evil for the coming year. It is organized by the local municipality and cultural foundation to keep the community traditions alive.
