About National Festival of Bulgarian Folklore
The festival preserves and transmits Bulgaria’s living folk heritage, with participation from all age groups and the diaspora. It is hosted in the historic Bulgarian Renaissance town of Koprivshtitsa, whose meadows (Voyvodenets area) provide natural acoustics. The event is co-organized by the Ministry of Culture, National Radio/TV and ethnographic institutes as a safeguard of intangible culture.
Visitors are encouraged to respect the authenticity of performances by listening quietly and not altering costumes or props. Folk costumes are customary for local participants; visitors may wear national or modest attire.
