Each year, the bilingual town of Murten celebrates a three-day carnival of music and mischief. Parades, Guggenmusik bands, satirical Schnitzelbank singing, and the burning of the Füdlibürger effigy fill the streets, in a celebration deeply rooted in the town's own carnival society.

Children’s Parade and Proclamation

Families and children perform in colorful costumes, followed by an official proclamation ceremony. Spectators enjoy the playful atmosphere and live music from Guggen bands.

Grand Parade (Grosser Umzug)

Viewers line the streets of the old town to watch costumed revelers and floats pass. Local music and confetti-filled procession with a festive atmosphere.

Füdlibürger Burning

Witness a mock trial and the lighting of a large bonfire. The crowd gathers at the Kanonenmätteli hill for fireworks and final speeches, sealing the carnival with satire and fun.
