Each pre-Lenten season, the small Istrian-Venetian town of Muggia throws one of the region's most beloved carnivals. Costumed floats and companies fill the streets in a tradition reaching back centuries, in a celebration that remains a great community ritual of this corner of Friuli-Venezia Giulia.
