Each June, the hilltop village of Mojácar in Almería stages a four-day Moors and Christians festival. Costumed armies, parades, and mock battles fill the white streets, in a celebration that recalls the long Spanish memory of the Reconquest along this Mediterranean coast.

Grand Parade (Gran Desfile)

Nearly 1,000 costumed participants and 21 musical groups march through the streets, ending at the Fuente roundabout, offering a grand display of traditional music and pageantry.

Capitulation Reenactment

Attendees witness actors (Moors and Christians) symbolically hand over keys or banners, recalling the town's surrender to the Catholic Monarchs.

Opening Ceremony and Trabucada

Spectators gather at the town hall plaza to see costumed locals fire blank muskets and launch the festivities.
