The festival reagrounds civic pride in the town’s Sienese-era heritage (even Dante mentioned Monteriggioni’s fortress in the Divine Comedy ). It allows the community to enact old customs (music, crafts, meals) and the legend of Monteriggioni as a frontier bulwark.
