Each early May the city of Melilla decks crosses with flowers and adorns its public spaces for the Cruces de Mayo, a friendly contest among neighborhoods, associations, and businesses. A custom shared across Andalusia and Murcia, the May Crosses bring color and competition to the city's streets.
