Each year around March 1, the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant in Bucharest holds its Mărțișor fair. Artisans present the traditional red-and-white amulets and folk crafts that herald the spring, in a celebration of one of the most ancient and beloved customs of Romania and the Balkans.
