The Malta International Arts Festival mixes bold contemporary work with the island's heritage, born of Valletta's turn as a European Capital of Culture.
Launched in recent years to continue the momentum of Valletta 2018 (European Capital of Culture), MIAF was created to provide a platform for both local and international arts. It integrates Malta’s history by using iconic heritage sites (palaces, theatres, fortresses) as stages. The festival blends traditional Maltese storytelling with modern expressions, reinforcing national pride in cultural innovation.
