Each winter, the lakeside town of Locarno fills the Piazza Grande with masks and music for the Stranôciada carnival. Street parades, confetti battles, and jester figures bring days of revelry, in a celebration that blends Ticinese folklore with the merrymaking of the Italian carnival.
