Festa dei Gigli di Nola

Nola, Italy

Jun 28, 2026Expected

Each June, the town of Nola near Naples honors its patron, San Paolino, by hauling eight towering wooden obelisks, each up to 25 meters tall, through the streets on the shoulders of dancing crews. The famous Festa dei Gigli, honored by UNESCO, recalls the saint's legendary return from captivity long ago.

Ballata dei Gigli

Visitors watch from street edges and piazzas; it is a festive atmosphere but remains reverent. It’s best to avoid obstructing the procession and to respect instructions, as the structures are heavy and the path is narrow.
