Each early August the Border town of Lauder holds its Common Riding, as residents ride horseback along the routes of the town's old burgh boundaries and parade through the streets. Like other Borders towns, Lauder re-asserts its ancient territory each year in this ride around the marches.
The Lauder Common Riding record is date-tracked, but stronger reviewed Field Guide media would make it easier to inspect.

Common Riding is a tradition in the Scottish Borders where towns re-assert their old territorial bounds. Lauder’s festival is one of the original ridings dating back to the 1600s. It is a reflection of the town’s rural heritage, with volunteer riders (the Jethart Callants) and participants maintaining customs from when border security (marches) was vital.
