Kalamata Saitopolemos (Dart War)

Σαϊτοπόλεμος

Kalamata, Greece

Apr 13, 2026Expected

Each Easter Monday, the city of Kalamata erupts into the Saitopolemos, a mock battle of flaming darts. Teams of men fire homemade flares, the saites, at one another in a thunderous, smoky spectacle, in a centuries-old tradition said to have begun as a way to ward off enemies and celebrate the Resurrection.

Media proof note

The Kalamata Saitopolemos (Dart War) record is date-tracked, but stronger reviewed Field Guide media would make it easier to inspect.
