Each year, the Istrian village of Svetvinčenat gathers donkey breeders from across the region for the Istrian Donkey Festival. Parades, competitions, and exhibitions celebrate the rare Istrian donkey, in a warm celebration that honors an animal once vital to rural life and raises awareness of its preservation.
